MFA Oil Company strives to conduct its business in ways that promote economic viability, environmental stewardship and community well-being. We believe this approach will deliver long-term value and prosperity to our members, customers, employees and the communities we serve.

Economic Viability

Patronage – When a cooperative is profitable, members earn patronage. Annual patronage refunds provided by the co-op send millions of dollars back to MFA Oil farmer-owners to reinvest in their communities. MFA Oil members are eligible to receive patronage on a percentage of the total money they spend on gasoline, diesel, propane or lubricants purchased from the company’s refined fuel and propane plants.

Economic Performance – Our co-op’s economic success generates significant tax revenue for the communities we serve, and patronage refunds help sustain the economic viability of our farmer-members.

Young Producers Programs – The MFA Oil Emerging Leaders in Agriculture conference helps develop young producers into strong farmer-leaders capable of providing leadership to the co-op in the future.

Environmental Stewardship

Emissions/Air Quality – We sell high-quality fuels with advanced additive packages that keep vehicles and equipment running cleaner, better and for longer. Our cleaner-burning fuels increase fuel economy, improve engine performance and lower emissions.

Alternative/Renewable Energy Support – We have supported renewable biofuels since 1993 and the coop is a part owner of Mid-America Biofuels. We offer both ethanol and biodiesel blends to our farmer-members and the public, and the co-op is actively evaluating numerous advancements in alternative energy technology.

Responsible Action – We follow federal, state and local environmental laws and regulations to conduct our business with respect and care for the environment.

Community Well-Being

Community Investment – We invest in local initiatives and organizations dedicated to serving youth, education, human services and civic endeavors. The MFA Oil Foundation has awarded more than $2.6 million in grants to community non-profit organizations since it was founded in 1998. Additionally, the company has provided more than $1 million in combined sponsorships to many non-profit organizations in the past decade.

Employee Volunteering – We actively engage with our neighbors to make the places where we work better places to live. Many employees are involved with local schools, churches, volunteer fire departments and other community efforts.

Youth Education – We jointly administer the MFA Foundation with MFA Incorporated, which has provided more than $16 million in college scholarships to nearly 15,000 students since its inception in 1958. The company also sponsors FFA and 4-H organizations at the state and local levels.
